What is Local SEO?

Local SEO similarly to regular SEO is the process of improving a site’s visibility within a search engine’s organic (unpaid) search results. However local SEO differs in the fact that it specifically targets keywords with local intent. This is due to Google’s discovery that users who search for certain types of businesses expect results in their immediate area. This occurs whether you include the name of a city or the term “near me” in the query.

For example, if the power goes out in your house based in London and you’re in need of an electrician; results showing electricians based in Manchester, Liverpool or Birmingham would be useless. Google is able to use your location data to show you the most appropriate search results.
